About the Building
26-30 W Hubbard has been transformed several times throughout its history. It was originally constructed in 1891 as a three-story warehouse by William and Rosa Elting. In 1908 William H. Payne added two stories, bringing the building to its current 5-story height. The exterior shows a brick corbelling just above the third floor windows, marking the top of the original building before the addition. The addition of the new floors repeats the feature at the roof line to create harmony between the original structure and the addition. In 1990 the building was redeveloped as loft office space and given a distinctive classical entry. Today it is occupied by Howl at the Moon Piano Bar on the first floor with brick and timber loft office space above.
