101 W Grand

About the Building

101 W Grand is a testament to the rebuilding of classic architecture in Chicago after the Chicago Fire of 1871. Built in the Victorian style and faced primarily in cut stone, the structure was built in two phases between 1872 and 1874. In the 1890s, the building was known as the "Grand Palace Hotel."

In 1991, over a century after its original construction Friedman Properties restored and updated 101 W Grand with a new entry and complete interior renovation. The dramatic lobby was refreshed, while staying true to the Victorian model, including the high, vaulted ceiling.

Today, 101 West Grand is home to the original Maggiano's Little Italy restaurant, numerous office tenants, and The Suites Collection—a shared office center.
