Overview

Ramen-san’s menu, crafted by Chef / Partner Doug Psaltis, showcases traditional Japanese dishes with elevated twists. For each bowl of ramen there are three broths to choose from—tonkotsu, shio and roasted vegetable—which are all served with Tokyo wavy noodles from Sun Noodle. Guests can further customize their dishes to fit their tastes with updated takes on traditional Japanese add-ons like kimchi, chashu pork, smoked brisket, fried chicken, molten egg, buttered corn and more. In addition to ramen offerings, the menu incorporates Asian-inspired appetizers like Smoked Salmon Nigiri, Pork Belly Mantou Buns and Spicy Szechuan Chicken Wings.

The beverage program at Ramen-san features Japanese whiskey, Asian-inspired cocktails and local and Japanese craft beer with Asahi on draft served through a special draft tower imported from Japan.

Located in Chicago’s bustling River North, Ramen-san is a lively neighborhood noodle den and bar reminiscent of traditional ramen shops in Japan. The space is raw—anchored by exposed brick and reclaimed wood—which makes for an understated yet inviting ambiance. Ramen-san marks the partners’ fourth collaboration with Japanese designer Kota Bando, who has created a comfortable and approachable space where diners can relax and enjoy noodles, beer and 90s hip-hop during lunch, dinner and late night.
