500-508 North Clark Street
A century separates the construction of 500 North Clark and its sister building 506 North Clark. The 500 building was erected in 1980 with a design intended to complement its older neighbors.
Erected by Jonathan H.P. Dodge as a combination store and apartment building in 1880, the high quality of 506 North Clark's design was indicative of the increased acceptance of apartments as first-class accommodations in the early 1880s. The detailing of the sandstone façade is particularly noteworthy.
