101 West Grand Avenue
The 101 West Grand Avenue Building serves as a testament to the rebuilding of classic architecture in Chicago after the Chicago Fire of 1871. Built in the Victorian model, the structure, faced primarily in cut stone, was originally erected in two phases between 1872 and 1874. In the 1890s, the building was known as the "Grand Palace Hotel."
The 101 West Grand Building was restored and modified a century after its original construction, updated with a new entry and complete interior upgrades. In 1991, Friedman Properties carefully restored the dramatic lobby, staying true to the Victorian model, including its high, vaulted ceiling. Today, 101 West Grand is home to the original Maggiano's Little Italy restaurant.
